FREE First Chapter Download (Oh, the fear!)

On June 15th, the first chapter of this book will be available for FREE download.  Although I am excited, I am also petrified.  This will be the first public release of any part of the book.  There is fear of how it will be received, will readers like it, will they hate it, will the chapter do what it is intended to do; create a conversation among the
readers.

The stories in the book are written to take the reader on a journey, an emotional path if you will.  Some of the stories contain controversial topics that deserve attention.  Some stories are written in a way to create a love/hate relationship with the main character.  Some stories will cause the reader to reflect on their own life.

Every story written for this book has a tidbit of real life tucked in it somewhere.  Each story has a truth that exists in my life or in my sister's life.  Each story is a part of us.  The release of the first chapter is bit like turning loose of your 5 year old's hand on the first day of Kindergarten.  I hope she has a great day, makes new friends, and doesn't fall flat on her face on the playground (fingers crossed).

The process of writing this book has been a joy and has many times felt like climbing a ladder that seems to go on forever.  As we near the end of the journey, we can see the platform at the top of the ladder.  Now we have to gather the courage to step onto the platform and let our work stand on its own.

I am sure as the 15th gets closer my hands will begin to tremble a bit more than they are already.

The chapter will be available at my website.  If you would like to be notified/reminded by email on the 15th, go to the website now and sign up through the Notification Form.  While you are there, check out all the pages on the website, hopefully you will find something that interests you.

Thanks for reading.

Brooke

  1. I just finished reading the first chapter!! well Ladies you have found your mark. My emotional scale went from being curious, to pity and finally anger and sadness. But in the end the experiences of my own personal walk in life, and this chapter has once more make me stop and think how wonderfully blessed I am to have the family I do. Not to mention how this part of the book has caused me to once again have a " a talk with my daughter and sons" reaffirming all the things I have taught them about devotion and love.

    Thank you Brooke and Paige!
I look forward to reading the rest of the book.

    Well done Ladies!
    Congrats. Kim
