My Daughter's Words (sniff, sniff...tear)

EXPECTATIONS

As I sit here the day before I turn 29 (yes, I know, I am getting old), I am trying to learn a lesson that my mom has been trying to teach me for a long time.

Expectations......everyone has them right? Everyone expects a lot from those around them, but
yet when they don’t exceed or even match up to those expectations, we are disappointed. I have found myself expecting more from people then they are able to give.

So, now as I sit here, I am telling myself that famous line my mother has said so many times in the past, "Never expect more from a person than they can give." Now explain to me why I have not ever listened to her before. I have been in several situations where I expected something to be more then what it ended up becoming, whether it be a gift or just a gesture. But as I get older, I am going to take life one day at a time and enjoy all the small things that happen to me. I am no longer going to be looking to those around me to treat me the way I have been treating them. (another line my mother used "treat others the way you want to be treated, but don’t expect the same in return")

So, I am writing this to allow myself to let go of those hard feelings that I have and to allow the feeling of happiness to seep back in.  Because I am who I am and I have (I hope) done the right things and have made the right choices in my life.

I hope that I have never made someone feel as though I am a rude person or inconsiderate of their feelings. I also hope, that as I work every day with the public, no matter how rude they are to me, I am always going to keep a smile on my face and greet them with a Good morning or Good Afternoon.

Always remember to never expect more from those that cannot give more. Always treat people as you would like to be treated. If we all treated everyone with common decency and respect, the world would not be filled with the violence that we have today or the hatred that we see on the streets.

Gone for a while but not forever......Much love!!!

Thanks for reading!
